The A&D
SIG encourages members to submit articles to the Flying High
that would be of interest to the A&D SIG community. The Editor-in-Chief
will review submissions. Accepted articles are subject to editorial
changes. The author is solely responsible for all statements made
in his or her work, including changes made. All sources of information
included in the article (full name, address, and phone number, e-mail/Web
site) must be listed separately. Submitted manuscripts are not returned
to the author.
Authors
must submit articles in electronic format, as a Microsoft®
Word document. Manuscripts must be in English. Foreign-language
articles are welcome, but an exact English translation of all text
and figures must accompany the document.
Artwork
is strongly encouraged (electronic images, graphs and tables).

Publication Writing Do's and Don'ts
Following these simple Do's and donts will help you get your
message heard:
Do:
- Think
about who your target readers are.
- Interview
multiple sources and quote other respected experts.
- Cite
your sources by professional title, company and location. Avoid
quoting publicationsif its already appeared in print,
readers probably have already seen it.
- Base
your article on hard facts.
- Include
information that is current and timely.
- Write
for an audience that is on-the-go. Be efficient and concise while
providing the details that are important to the story. Emphasize
the practical aspects of the article with specifics.
Dont:
- Submit
a long bulleted list of subjective action items or a reworked
presentation.
- Repackage
press releases, "advertorial," or straight promotional
copy as a feature article.
- Rehash
what has been said before. If youve seen information in
print elsewhere, so have others.
- Just
scratch the surface. Cover your material in-depth. Dont
try to cover every aspect of a very broad topic. Its much
more interesting and useful to detail a smaller topic from as
many angles and as deeply as possible.
- Write
a first-person account. Feature articles capture a variety of
viewpoints, not just the authors.
